Waking up is hard to do
Ivan is funny when he has not yet woken up fully. He stomps around a bit and looks like the photos above.
Fixing the chair
Ivan broke this chair by sitting in it funny and tumbling it backwards.
He is fixing the detached back with alot of scotch tape.
It is now more of a stool with non-functional, decorative back.
Ivan would like a “neverending roll of tape. So I can fix the whole world!”
Father and Son
Some days Ivan looks so much like his dad.
Ivan Speaks
This artwork is “Brown Baby Heads.” It is inspired by a Kandinsky painting. Unlike his sister Ivan tells me he is not an artist, but he enjoys making art.
Some recent utterances:
Dancing, taking pictures and eating food give me ENERGY!
i: Can I be Santa Claus this Christmas?
A: What would you do if you were Santa?
i: Dress up like Santa and wrap your presents and not tell you what is in them.
Did you know I’m trained to be a ninja?
Do you know why I called Eric a genius? Because he can roll a burrito.
Upon seeing me bring out the vacuum, “Are we going to have company?”
No, kid, I am just vacuuming to ya’know clean the floor. I don’t only vacuum for company, do I?
Ivan is starting to get irregular past verbs.
bringed is becoming brought
sayed is becoming said
goed is becoming went
I know it had to happen, but he sounds so grown up with his proper forms.
“What does V look like again?”
Ivan can recognize and type all the letters in his name except the V, but if you flash him the peace sign he can then find the V.
Go, Ivan.
Preschool School Picture
This is the kids looking cute in hopes of getting to play with the iPad.
They are cute when they are begging.
Ivan is a chomper plant for Halloween.
Many months ago Ivan asked to be a Chomper Plant for Halloween. Eric made it happen.
His big sister is a Sunflower. Both of these plants are zombie fighting vegetation from the app Plants Vs. Zombies.
Eric is dressed as Crazy Dave the genius behind using plants to fight the coming zombie hoards.
A stop to show off the costumes and be where it all started at the Downers Grove library which introduced Ivan to Plants vs. Zombies on its iPads. Ivan is playing some Plants vs. Zombies on the library’s iPad below.
It’s the Great Pumpkin Hunt, Ivan Blau!
We all watched It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown in the meeting room. Ezri had Jason’s lap and Ivan had mine.
Then the hunt was on.
Tiny plastic pumpkins and monsters were hidden all over the three floors of the Clarendon Hills Library.
Ezri spotted this one near the magazines.
Here’s a pumpkin waiting to be found.
Ivan found a yellow monster by the check out desk.
Here’s Ivan looking through the contents of his finds. He got a lot of tootsie rolls in those pumpkins!
Underwear Scare
The art project was making clothes for a popsicle stick scarecrow. Ivan only wanted to add underwear and they needed to be green.
He was convinced to add a hat, mittens, shoes, and scarf. “But NO pants!” He asked me to draw a crow and then told me it looked like pigeon from Mo Willems’ books.
This is his underwear scarecrow.
He’s very proud and we have it on our front door to greet visitors.
