The Planet Wall
Since he was very small Ivan has enjoyed this mural which will be lost in the remodel of our amazing local library.

One of Ivan’s first words was “Twinkle” which he said “teeko teeko.” As a baby he would point at the stars on this wall and say “teeko teeko” now he just calls it the planet wall.

Which one is his favorite planet? It’s Jupiter with its eye.

And here he is after the last weekday storytime before remodeling with Miss Kelly, one of our great storytellers.

The THING stomping across my living room
The Dark Knight
In eager anticipation of spring – a new hat
Beating us to the punch
Ivan insists on playing with the phone cord and making fart noises at dinner. Ivan is told if he cannot behave at the table that he will be put in time out without his binky. With a glare he hops down, puts his binky in his mouth, marches to his room, and slams the door.
That’s right, parents, I just preemptively put myself in time out WITH my binky. Take that!

Because it is not a post without a photo, here he is hugging Mr. Squooshy, a bear given to Ezri as a baby. Lately, Ivan has declared this bear to be MINE! Ezri does not seem to mind the change in ownership, so I’m leaving it alone.
Who wore it better?
Ivan Speaks
How Ivan feels about pancakes, “It’s very yummy. Tasty. It’s delicious.” Ivan knows more than one word for delicious, but pancakes are the only time he’s been motivated to use all three.
The claim yelled from his room after bedtime, “Catastrophe!”
Upon entering the room, “Binky, my binky”
Eric, “Did you drop your binky?”
Ivan, “Yeah” followed by soft sobs.
Binky was retrieved. Catastrophe ended.
“My big sister is eating his green beans.” It’s a nice complex sentence, but Ezri noticed his improper use of possessive pronouns immediately.
While playing with Hulk action figure during happy hour:
A: Does Hulk like to drink apple juice?
i: NO!
A: What does Hulk like to drink?
i: Beef!
Not sure where it came from, but it seems plausible.
Singing, “Pinky dinky doo, where are you?” This combination of the theme songs from Pinky Dinky Doo and Scooby Doo is a joke Ivan finds hilarious.
Ivan likes to sing everything to the name game song. He does it with everything he passes in the car like this:
“House, house bo bouse
fana fana fo fouse
mee my mo mouse
HOUSE!”
His sister was not sharing and was sent to her room. “Please go to Time Out with Ezri. Please, go to Time OUT! PLEASE!” We may need a new punishment for Ivan.
After watching Frozen with his sister, “How does she do that?” as he waved his hands around like the Snow Queen did when she made her ice magic. It occurred to me that he may not understand the difference between a Disney musical and a documentary.
Eric tried to nap upon returning from a couple days away.
Cat in the Mustache
Here’s Ivan with his new mustache bookmark. Ezri is photo bombing where she’s snuck behind the service desk.

It’s mustache week at the library. We think our mustached librarians look great and the Junior Room is all decked out. Even Miss Mouse has a mousestache.

Ezri has a new magic kit. Ivan loves the hat. “Abra-Kadabra!”

If Ezri had a mustache she would want it to be purple just like this one.

Almost every week on Saturday, Eric takes the kids to the library but this Saturday since he’s in Chicago I did the fun. Ivan is one of the front row kids in storytime and he can do every kind of “Roll roll sugarbabies” now. It’s hard to think of mine as the big kids, but they are.
