“I like glitter glue!”

Both Blau children agreed what Ivan’s fall school project needed was glitter glue.

The big sister was heard to say, “The glitter just makes it a sparkly land.”
The little brother just kept repeating, “I like glitter glue.”
He was also heard to remark, “I think we need to buy one hundred glitter glues.”

Great American Bagel boxes make the best houses

All they need is a little paint.

Ivan likes to use green. Lots of green.

He can paint with two brushes at once for faster application.

It takes focus and concentration.

This project lasted over an hour out on the porch with both kids intent and focused. The results make fun playthings. Thanks, Great American Bagel, for having the best shaped bagel boxes.

Ivan the artist

ivanpainter

Ivan is enjoying painting at the easel.  This morning he did not want chalk or markers.  Ivan wanted to paint.  It’s nice that both kids can simultaneously create.  Big thanks to the house in the neighborhood that put this easel out with the trash a couple years ago.

Below is Ivan’s first painting of the morning.  It is “Itsy Bitsy Spider” with “web” and “Mama Itsy Bitsy.”  The yellow is the web.  The two green blobs are the spiders.  The top one is Itsy Bitsy and the bottom one is Mama.

Here is the pumpkin I drew that he painted.  That yellow patch below the pumpkin is a trampoline according to the kids.

Mixed Media Artwork

The artist creates a mixed media piece using washable marker and drool. Ezri drew the yellow oval, but Ivan filled it in. So, it’s a collaborative piece.

Ivan now has all 16 teeth without his 2 year molars poking through. The canines have emerged and brought with them drool and some urge to chew.

Ivan has also declared himself done with his high chair. He will sit at the table in a chair like the rest of us. Any attempt to put him in the high chair will results in kicking legs and “no-no-no-no” from Ivan. We’ve moved the high chair to the porch.

Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man

Ivan loves markers. I don’t think Ezri had access until older, but this is one of the perks of having a big sister. He is definitely right handed and very skilled at keeping the marks on his paper for his age. He scribbles with one color then puts it down tries to put on the cap and requests another color from the box.
