Ivan and I spent an hour at the DMV this morning.
2 identifying documents, 4 lines, and $30 later – I have a shiny, new driver’s license.
Ivan spent his time charming those in the DMV holding pen (err. . . waiting area). He smiled and got people to smile back. But then there was the cool twenty-something guy sitting to my left and Ivan kept trying his best smile in hopes the cool dude would reciprocate. But, the cool dude just looked straight ahead and then down at the paper with his number on it and then straight ahead again. No glances for Ivan. So, Ivan would turn to one of the other people in our row and smile. This person would inevitably return the smile and wave or coo. Ivan, assured his mojo did still work, would try the cool dude again. Again he would get no eye contact and no smile. His little brow would furrow. What was he doing wrong? Eventually he got tired and fell asleep, but I could see the gears turning. Does this not work like I think it does? Is that guy not like all the others? What gives? Turns out, Ivan, some are immune to your baby cuteness.

don’t worry, ivan – the immune are clearly in the minority and will assuredly continue to be so as you go through life. 😀
Aww. You’re getting to be a habit with me, Ivan.
Immune? or clueless? Cool 20-something guy didn’t know enough to look at his surroundings.
