“Kool-aid is good, but water is gooder.” Ivan now likes lemonade, but has always turned down most beverages that are not H2O.
Ivan does not like bright sunshine. He often says, “It’s too sunny” and then does not want to exit the car or the building into the sunshine. That’s the context for this quote, “I like trees. Sun makes sunshine. Tree makes shade.”

First Ivan wanted green cake for his birthday, now it’s “Green cake with green frosting with green candle. And lemonade.” His sister asked if the lemonade should be green. Ivan said simply, “Lemonade is yellow.” He also wants to go somewhere special for his birthday like “the library and Dunkin Donuts.”
Often, Ivan says simply: “I can’t walk so longer”. And is as likely to be due to being upset by excessive sunshine as legit tiredness.
For his birthday party, Zev requested and got a green cake with green frosting. If you are making it from a box (as I did) I recommend buying yellow cake as the base. Esben asked for blue, and the white cake was a better base.
For actual birthday (which came first), they requested red and pink, respectively. Red was a lot harder to make from the white base, and then when I bought red velvet for their birthday, Zev suddenly asked for green instead. Moral? Keep plenty of boxes of cake mix on hand of different colors, and ask right before you open the box so you use the right one. Then do NOT ask again. 🙂
I think Dunkin Donuts is a GREAT place to spend a birthday. A kid after my own heart.
I have purchased extra powerful gel food coloring. I was thinking white cake mix, but knowing yellow works better is great!
